Reflecting on 2021

The last two years honestly felt like they’ve flown by while my life took a hiatus.Covid curbed pretty much all travel, minimised socialisation, and brought upon long stretches of working from home.

Although when I settle down enough to think about it, I’ve still been progressing even if I haven’t made huge headways. I count myself and my family as one of the luckier ones to not have had life-threatening moments or encountered financial hardship during this time. Covid truly impacted so many people around the world, so I am feeling incredibly blessed we were carrying on pretty much as usual, with relatively mild challenges like lockdowns and working from home.

In fact, these may have worked out better for us as it kept us safer indoors and gave me room to reflect more on how I would like my life to be in future.

A few notable things for 2021:

We moved house and decided to rent out our old unit while having the option to live wherever we wanted. This meant opting for a more convenient location with better amenities and a gorgeous view. Both hubby and I agreed that while the idea of greenery is nice (our old place had a garden view filled will bamboo), we actually loved a city view more. During the New Year Eve celebrations, we could even view the fireworks quite well directly from our balcony.

City skyline view from our new balcony. We could even view the new year fireworks!

We took advantage of lower interest rates to renegotiate our mortgages and almost halved our monthly interest! This is especially important as I want to really cut down on our outlays in 2022 due to our little announcement below…..

Our little family of 3 is growing and we’ll be welcoming a new addition in early 2022! We’ve kept this under wraps for so so long, and only really shared it with close family and friends, but YES, our little one will be coming in early 2022! This is such a milestone for us and will be absolutely life-changing!

I’m currently feeling so big and clumbsy and honestly just kinda over it. My first and second trimester was a complete breeze though, with no morning sickness or any other symptons other than a growing stomach. But now with the belly significantly bigger, I’ve really felt the lack of mobility in this third trimester. However, it’s also been a true blessing to be able to work from home (pretty much throughout my whole pregancy!). Plus, not venturing out much means I can wear more casual clothing, so I haven’t even purchased any maternity wear at all, but just stuck to dresses and other loose clothing this whole time. Another win on the money-saving front!
